Our lessons and events are designed to help players build confidence, learn at their own pace, and enjoy the journey. We believe the best games are filled with laughter, encouragement, and new friendships. Pull up a chair, join the table, and discover why so many people fall in love with Mahjong.

Elevated Tile “Therapy”

All lessons, guided play sessions, open play, and other events are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a session fills, registration will close, so we encourage booking early to secure your spot.

About Us

Hi, Houston. We’re Jacobo + Olivia, the J + O behind JO House of MahJOng.

When Jacobo and his husband moved in next door, a connection was instantly formed. When Olivia’s kids go to bed, the tiles come out and our husbands practically beg to join us. So we decided… why not let everyone in on this?

JO House of MahJOng is for the curious, the competitive, the husbands who keep watching over your shoulder, the girls, gays, and theys who haven’t found their hobby yet, and anyone who’s ever felt like mahjong “wasn’t for them.”

Meet Olivia — the O in JO. 🀄 Olivia is the person who will make mahjong make sense to you. She has this gift for teaching a game and making it just click for people within the first hour. But here’s the thing about Olivia: she’s also the reason JO House of Mahjong exists at all. It started with a set of tiles, a bottle of wine, and her next-door neighbor Jacob. Then their husbands joined in. Then it became a weekly ritual. Then a couple-times-a-week thing. Then they looked at each other and said — *other people need this.* So here we are. If you’ve ever wanted to learn mahjong but thought it was too complicated or “not for you,” Olivia is exactly who you want in your corner. She’ll teach you, cheer for you, and probably make you want to start your own weekly game. JO House of Mahjong hosts intro classes monthly. Get all the details in the link in bio!

Meet Jacob, the J behind JO House of MahJOng 👋 He’s the guy you meet at a party and immediately think, ‘why have I never hung out with this person before?’ He’s a collector, a natural host, and the reason our events feel less like a class and more like the best night out you’ve had in months. Jacob collects mahjong sets the way some people collect wine. And he has strong opinions about the fact that mahjong nights should not be exclusively for the girls — that husbands, boyfriends, and guy friends deserve a seat at the table too. For real.
